SMC Corporate Finance acted as exclusive advisor to Helvetia Environnement on the acquisition of SRS Swiss Recycling Services and arranging the acquisition financing.
With over 19 acquisitions since 2000, Helvetia Environnement is actively participating in the consolidation of the highly fragmented Swiss waste management & recycling market and pursues the goal of leading the industrialization and the sustainable development of the Swiss waste management & recycling market.
In 2017, Helvetia Environnement had the opportunity to acquire its counterpart Swiss Recycling Services (SRS), the former Veolia non-harzardous waste operations in Switzerland. This strategic acquisition allowed Helvetia to double its size and gain a nation-wide presence by integrating SRS’ large national accounts business (including waste management outsourcing at large industrial sites).
SMC Corporate Finance supported Helvetia Environnement for this transformative acquisition, by coordinating the due diligence effort, providing negotiation and business planning support, and arranging the financing of the acquisition (including a refinancing of the group’s existing debt instruments) by a combination of a capital increase of CHF 45 million and a CHF 58 million bridge loan (later refinanced by the issuance of a Green Bond).
